About A11 Radio

A11 Radio is an independent online radio station hosted at a11radio.com. The station broadcasts continuously: one song is played for everyone at once and the next song starts automatically when it ends.

A11 Radio behaves like a traditional FM or DAB radio broadcast rather than a music library. There is no track list to browse, no skip button and no rewind. How the broadcast works

A11 Radio runs its own server-side playlist. Music files from the station's library are scanned and imported with their title, artist, album and cover art, then a queue of upcoming tracks is prepared in advance so the station never runs out of music. Tracks are played one after another, decoded to a single consistent audio format, and broadcast as one shared MP3 stream (HTTP content type audio/mpeg). Because every listener receives the exact same stream, they all hear the same song at the same moment.

Live video during a broadcast

When a live show is on air, A11 Radio also publishes a live video stream and this page switches to it automatically. When the video broadcast stops, the player falls back to the audio stream on its own, so audio keeps playing whether or not video is live. The player checks for a live broadcast every few seconds and can also be switched between video and audio manually.
